Home Based Business

After 10 years of grinding it out in several home based businesses, there is definitely one common denominator that most people have missed that is key to their business. That key is having customers as their main way of generating income versus distributors. Some people may disagree and that is fine with me. However, when you get down to the basics, you are paid on product flow through your network. In today’s article, I’m switching gears to discuss the nuts and bolts required to build a sustainable Home Based Business.

I can’t remember how many times some of my personal mentor’s have reminded me to be a product of the product and get some customers. I usually thought, but I want business builders for my home based business. Who cares about customers because I need business people. In hindsight, I have realized what a big mistake that was because when you break down successful companies. They all have one thing in common – customers.

Well, let’s take a moment and review my thought process and history behind it. The first time I really heard that was in late 1980’s with a company called GNLD. My first real mentor in this business, Jim, had one of the strongest networks going at the time and he’s still going today with a strong group. The one thing that stood out, he was passionate about the products and had a solid based of customers. Jim didn’t tell us to be a product of the product, he showed us how! He would remind all of us that using and believing in the products was absolutely essential if you wanted to build a healthy residual income in a Home Based Business. There are no shortcuts.

I may sound like a broken record, but seriously look at the facts. Look at Wallmart, as one of the best examples. They have one of the best success stories because they have one of the largest bases of customers in the world for any business and they keep coming back.

I heard a very successful man in network marketing repeatedly say, treat your customers like gold because they are worth thousands of dollars to you over many years. Now imagine having thousands of customers that receive great customers service and enjoy the products. Yup, you guessed it, repeat customers means money in your pocket. So the next time someone tells you don’t worry or focus on customers, tell them to look at all successful companies in the world. They understood the value of customers and so should you.

Yes, building a solid home based business takes time, patience and daily discipline, but that is the price of freedom.
