One of the most surprising revelations was the fact that larger numbers of people were using their home to earn an income with a home based business opportunity. As well, the home based business sector represents 52 percent of all firms and provides 10% of the total receipts of the economy. Another surprising fact was that over 50,000 home based businesses had sales of over $1,000,000! it was also learned that about 20% of these home based businesses had employees, creating a large number of jobs. Many home based businesses, almost 50%, were started with personal savings rather than bank loans. Another interesting fact was that most home business owners worked an average of 26-35 hours per week, less than most of us who work for someone else.

The home based business sector has continued to grow and it’s contributions to our economy are now realized. More and more people are taking advantage of home based business opportunities. Although that data was collected over 15 years ago it is an important milestone to remind us how valuable a resource this sector was and continues to be to the US economy. One of the most important things you will have to be able to do in order to achieve with an online business is to get people to visit your web site. If you are going to be successful with this aspect of online business you will have to become familiar with SEO or Search Engine Optimization. If you want to increase the number of visitors to your web site you must take the time to learn about this or at least pay someone to do it for you. What makes a search engine give a particular web site high ratings and not others? It has to do with content. And to be more exact, it has to do with unique content. Learning something new takes time and commitment. And with the technology of the Internet rapidly changing it takes some serious commitment to learn. It is not until I actually apply it and monitor results through the search engines every day that I can finally say “I understand it now”. But guess what! I just lied to you. Because your name is associated with your keywords and keyword phrases, I believe your name alone helps with SEO for those words. I can not prove that. It is my gut feeling but from what I have observed, I think this is what happens.
