With just under three months to go before Christmas the Holiday Season will be upon us in no time. Most of us look forward to the company/staff parties at this time of year. It is a good time to relax and enjoy being in the festive mood. The only thing is that many of us who have a home based business opportunity will be missing out on the traditional staff party. But, most of us entrepreneurs have a team or network of others that we work with online, so why not plan a virtual party this year.

The Internet can certainly be the place to host a little online party for your home based business opportunity. Today there are a number of programs available that can host such a celebration. Some are free or at least very affordable. Just as long everyone has a web cam and mic, you can invite quite a crowd. Just think, you don’t have to put up with the guy who always drinks too much or the guy who is always bragging about one thing or another. No need to be extra nice to the boss either. Hey, this virtual party may be a very good idea. It would be a great opportunity to strengthen your relationships with others in your network.

On of the newer and most popular social networking sites is called Skype. This program could hold a web conference and the cost is right. It’s free. Its a great way to stay connected with your team in your home based business opportunity. You can have voice and text chats with up to five others. It works on a variety of computer systems so it is unlikely that someone would be left out. If you want to use the video chat you run into a problem because it is set up so you can link up with only one person at a time. I’m sure you are aware of other systems such as ICQ, Yahoo! and MSN Messenger.

If money is not a big concern, then find a web conferencing service where you can set it up so all can take part in a video chat. One thing about such a service is that it can certainly be an asset to your home based business. You and your fellow team members will be able to surf the web together and share desktops. You can look at each others photos and videos without having to download any files. It is a great system.

These conferencing programs can also be used in your business to communicate with large numbers of people who may be interested in looking at your business opportunity. You can even record any online conferences you may have and people can access then at a later date if they miss the live presentation. Such a service can be pricy so shop around. Once your business starts to grow a program such as this may help it expand even further.

Like anything, you should plan ahead if you are considering hosting a virtual party. Find a service that will meet your needs and is in a price range you can afford. You could even host a customer appreciation party. Have some give-aways and specials and invite them all. Most would probably like to see who they do business with. Either way, whatever home based business opportunity you decide to do, it will require work and a daily focused effort.

What is the Best Home Based Business Opportunity?

Everyone seems to have the greatest home business, so they claim. In all reality, the best home based business opportunity is a very subjective statement. There are so many home businesses and independent business owners that it is very difficult to decide which one is the best home based business opportunity. Start by deciding what type of business you would like to focus your time and energy on. Perhaps its a personal interest in nutrition, sports, services etc. If you are not sure where to start, just go online and Google it.

Start by making up your criteria list to help you determine which is the best home based business opportunity. For example, list the pros and cons, start up costs, can you operate it from home or is their travel required. Check out the owners of the companies to ensure to the best of your ability and available information that they are honest and ethical. When you Google the owners name and business name, watch out for negative comments. While many times it could be just a disgruntled distributor, you need to know that can be a warning flag. Make sure you do some extensive research either way.

It is my personal suggestion based on many years of being in the industry to go with a company that has at least 2 or 3 years under their belt. The fact is the high majority of companies will not survive 5 years and the last thing you want to do is compound the problem by going with a start up. Ya, I can just hear all those so called super star networkers telling you to get in on the ground floor. What a bunch of crap. Think about that for a minute to digest in your mind. If the so called best home based business opportunity really does exist, then it will be around in 3 or 5 years and should be just as good of an opportunity. If not, continue researching till you find one that you are comfortable with.

What type of products or services does the company offer? Are they protected by patents or like some companies that are stupid enough to try this one – do the products infringe on patents? Do the products offer real value for the customer, not distributor. Note that I stated customer. In other words, is the company all about recruiting, like many MLM companies are or do they provide meaningful value if someone purchased the product at retail value? Does the company actually have their own manufacturing facilities or do they source out most of the products to someone else. This is extremely important to me and unless the company has their own facility, I won’t even consider them. The reason is obvious and simple. They can control their quality and cost of the products.

Other considerations are what type of compensation plan does the company offer for their called Home Based Business opportunity. Is the compensation plan fair to all or is it skewed in favor of the heavy hitters. Most MLM compensation plans are skewed in favor of the so called super star network marketers or heavy hitters. What a joke and if a company wants to offer special incentives, which many do for those types of people, I have one word – next.

Without a doubt one of my main areas of concern has been the focus on buying leads to build a business. I used to believe it was possible for the average person to spend a couple of hundred dollars on leads and actually build a stable business. Wow, I was in for a rude awakening. There should be no requirement to buy MLM business leads. I would like to see every single lead generation business go out of business. Seriously, so many are are unethical and dishonest. Why make such a bold statement. Personal experience with buying leads, that’s why. They are claim to have the greatest, freshest, and responsive leads, it would make you vomit. It is nothing but digital trash because they re-sell leads to multiple people.

I realize the above list is not a complete list. I hope that you gleaned a few ideas on what to look out for and consider prior to jumping on the MLM train. There is no need to make a gut decision, but rather base your decision on solid business fundamentals.

After researching dozens of companies over the years, I belive I have found my best home based business opportunity based on the above criteria. Let me first ask you if you have ever heard about buying customers? Probably not, but first let me introduce you to someone that has earned a tremendous amount of respect in the home business industry. One important fact is you will never be trained on duplication. If duplication were so great, then explain why 95% of people never make money? The business community follows a model of delegation, even the network marketing companies. Think about that for a minute and truly understand what I am saying. They have an accounting department, IT unit, customer service etc. Then why do they teach distributors that its all about duplication. Simple, they know it will not truly work for the majority, yet retain the highest profit margins they can for the business. In our business, we follow what the rest of the business world follows, a model of delegation.

Based on the above criteria there is in my opinion only one home based business opportunity that I can recommend. It is based on buying customers. Every successful business has what as a common denominator? That’s right – customers as the foundation.

What is the X Factor in a Home Based Business?

After investing the past 10 years working on various home based businesses, I have learned a few things a long the road to success. Some worked, but most simply failed. Like most people, the reality is approximately 90 percent plus will not make any money. Stop and think for a moment about why such a small percentage of people are truly successful relative to the population. With so many opportunities around us, the gap seems to be widening each day between the wealthy and poor. There are people that are building a successful home based business and developing a solid income, but most are just surviving paycheck to paycheck. What do successful people or what I call the X-Factor have in common?

Do you have to be born with some special qualities or can they be learned? Is it some special organization they belong to that get tutored on the ways of the wealthy or is there some home business course that explains exactly what they need to do to be successful? There is much debate and thousands of articles written about this subject matter, but have several common characteristics. Several traits are; a vision, clear and defined goals, and a good mentor that will guide you along.

The one element that stood out for me, was passion. It’s not something you are taught in school, read in a text book, but that which comes deep from within you. Think about the people that have developed a successful Home Based Business and created multiple steams of income. They all seem to have that unique quality of passion. For anyone that would like to see what passion is all about, check out Chris Gardner, the man behind the Pursuit of Happyness. Absolutely, one of the best movies in my opinion that demonstrates passion to the extreme. When you evaluate the characteristics of what Chris and what he personally had to overcome, I would suggest he had all of the above, but he has the drive and passion to overcome any obstacles. On a scale of 1 to 10, where are you on the scale of motivation?

My passion is to build a successful home based business and create a a life style of freedom that our family can enjoy keeps me laser focused. That is what drives me, especially when I’m tired after a full 10 hour day at the job, yet still have passion and persistence to continue working late into the evening on developing our home based business. Hey, nobody said this would be easy. Passion is that force within you that inspires you to get up early in the morning and late to bed. In other words, you can’t wait till the next morning to get up and out of bed. Are you truly serious and focused on what your dreams and aspirations are or do you just put life on cruise control? Either way, you are responsible for your life and nobody else.

The advice that given to me but a couple of good friends and true mentors, is you must be willing to learn, grow and have absolute resolve that nothing will stop you – passion. It really is the fuel that makes people do the things to build a home based business. Every one of us has the ability to be successful and its all about choices. So what will you choose for your life? Success or failure? There are no short cuts to success as I can attest to after 10 years in the industry.

I discovered that we all must have somewhere inside of us a dream, a desire, something to hold on to and reach for in order to remain focused. Something must make us desperate enough to change our circumstances. People who don’t want it badly enough or lack passion, don’t make it. Being desperate enough to find a way to change and become inspired to do so. I know what I have wanted for our family for the past 15 years and have paid the price and have the battle scars to prove it.

Many of us have written about the WHY we do this business. Therein is the secret to our success. Our dream (passion) and our why that drives us, something we desire so much that we find the courage to overcome doubt and fear and drive our self to do what it takes to build a solid Home Based Business and create a full time residual income.

When you truly stop and reflect upon the successful people that made it, they all had a very clearly defined reason for doing so and passion. Getting back to my original point of the article and wrapping it up. That is what I call the X – Factor. So here is my question. Have you truly taken the time to think about it clearly and written it down for reviewing? Invest a few hours alone and explore your thoughts and make a decision on what it truly is that you want to accomplish. Nobody ever said that building a successful home based business would be easy, but talk to anyone that is successful and truly has the time/freedom to do as they please, I’m sure they will tell you they are extremely happy they took the road and pathway to success and built a home based business. There are no free rides to success despite what some people will claim. If someone tells you that you can make thousands of dollars a month without investing any time at all, I would suggest you pass and tell them they are full of crap.
